  32. You're sorta right.  Microsoft hasn't invented anything. However, all
  33. the technology that they use, they own.  How? When new technology comes
  34. along they buy it and the company that invented it if possible.  Then,
  35. of course, they change it just enough to break any competitors using it.

  42. OLE is not OpenDoc. OpenDoc goes hand in hand with SOM. How MS could
  43. implement an improved version of OpenDoc without SOM is beyond me.
